Protect Your Identity

As the world becomes ever more dependent on electronic information and the internet, it is imperative that you take steps to protect your identity. The SAG-Producers Pension and Health Plans utilize internal IT staff and external security partners to constantly monitor our network and protect your information at the plan office. The Plans also conduct regular information security training with all employees. Unfortunately as the Anthem data breach and many retail security incidents have proven in the last couple of years, no system is completely secure.

The good news is that you can take steps to protect yourself:

Take Charge – The best defense is a good offense. Sign up for the credit protection and monitoring offered by Anthem through AllClearID. Visit or call (877) 263-7995. Monitor your own credit. Get your free annual credit report and make sure to review it and report any suspicious activity to one of the credit reporting agencies (Experian, Equifax and Trans Union). If you are enrolled in credit protection, also call your credit protection company.

Educate Yourself – Below are some links to government resources. Most new identity theft occurs when people give personal information out over the phone or through clicking a link in an email. It is much easier for the "bad guys" (pretending to be an entity you know) to simply ask you for this information than to hack into a company computer.

Protect Your Data – Make sure your passwords are long and strong. Do not share user names or passwords. Use different passwords for credit card, banking, medical or any site with sensitive information. Use a cross-cut shredder to shred personal documents. Report anything that doesn't look right.
